What am I doing?
Sat, 10 Mar 2018 09:17:00 +0000Completed and getting ready to deliver!
So, team and individual pictures are a thing that I was not sure that I'd ever be doing. But, when I had such a blast shooting a banner for a more local softball team, there was no reason for me NOT to rock this job out!
So once we had a good idea of what we were going to do with the location, we got set up, took our shots and got out of there! We were only a few minutes over our time goal, which was great not only for us, but for the league! We were told that they were accustomed to enjoying breakfast, brunch AND lunch there! I was glad to get off on the right foot there.
The real work began once I loaded Lightroom with the photos. Being (I think, Red-Green) colorblind, I had a slight issue with some darker shades. Thank God for my wife! Not only does she see in perfect color, she is quite the customer service rep. When the color profile didn't quite match the print service we used, she was a champ and got it all ironed out quickly.
With the last of the mistakes being corrected and ordered, we can get ready to close this chapter of Rivera Imagery. We are so glad to have had the opportunity to provide photographs for this league. With even the small amount of mistakes, we have received some great feedback and are already in the process of prepping for the invitation to do next season's team and individuals!
All in all, it was a great time meeting new people in a town that I lived in for a few years. El Monte will always have a special place in my heart.

Mon, 17 Apr 2017 14:39:00 +0000Happy Easter
Happy birthd-- Easter!
I hope the holiday treated everyone well and the food was delicious. I know mine was. Time with friends and/or family is the best kind of time there is.
We spent the day at church, and heard quite a dark joke from our pastor. I thought it was funny, but it didn't get the reaction, I'm sure he was looking for. I may or may not post it since I don't want to take credit for this joke.... We'll see.
There want much time for pictures since my hands were stained with carne asada and chicken juice. That and camera equipment t just don't seem to play well with each other.
Either way I hope the holiday treated everyone well and today isn't a rough one for those going back to work or school.
Sun, 09 Apr 2017 08:53:00 +0000Any day behind the lens is a good day.
...But a day behind the lens shooting these athletes is a great day.
I was lucky enough to have a coach for the highest division of the Moreno Valley Diamond Girls Softball Association, come up to me during a game I was shooting.
I was shooting my youngest daughter's game and his team was playing later that day. Turns out he's also managing the currently undefeated Division 3/4 Cyclones. Could it have been fate that 3/4 (3rd batallion 4th Marines) was also my unit when I was in the Marine Corps? Who knows?
Either way, I packed up my gear and my "apprentice" 2nd photographer (my oldest daughter) and we were on our way! I'm so happy to have had this opportunity, because this team is absolutely dominant! I mean, it was crazy how good this team is, from the top to the bottom of the lineup. Hopefully my daughter took some pointers since she wants to play this fall.
As far as actually covering the game, it was so easy because these girls were making some great plays on offense and defense. It's almost harder to get some great stuff when it's a defensive softball game.
It's now 1:50 am and the gallery is up and I couldn't be more excited to hopefully have lived up to expectations! I can't wait to do it all over again in the near future. Thanks for the work Daniel!
Sun, 09 Apr 2017 05:34:00 +0000Its time to....
Sun, 09 Apr 2017 01:57:00 +0000It has begun....Welp, I have officially started a blog..... Why? Mostly because I can and it gives me someone to talk to while the wife rests in her 8th month of her pregnancy with our 5th child!
She deserves it. So there it is. My first blog post. A little lackluster, but hey... it's a start.
