Isn’t Photography Just a Hobby?

Someone in my family once asked,

"Why photography? There are too many photographers out there!"

"Are you sure this is what you want?"

"Isn't photography just a hobby?"

My husband Mario is the creative brain behind Rivera Imagery. You see, Mario’s mother passed away unexpectedly when he was a little boy, leaving him with very few photos of her. With cell phones around every corner, can you imagine having almost no photos of your mother?

I'm sure there are people who use photography as a hobby or a creative outlet. And that is awesome, we admire the artistic side photography offers. Our passion for photography far surpasses just snapping a photo, we want to freeze time and create an image. If we could give a family a cherished moment, that can be remembered for years to come we would have accomplished our mission.

The longer you live the more you notice, that life is unexpected with twists and turns at every junction. It is how you choose to tackle those obstacles that show a true testament of strength. Mario and I have pushed through and have overcome many obstacles inside of Rivera Imagery, and outside just living our day-to-day life. One thing remains, our drive for success with Rivera Imagery comes from a framed 11x14 photograph hanging on the wall.
